SOFO VII MuST FBG Portable Reading Unit 2
The SOFO VII/MuST Portable Reading Unit is a universal, battery-powered interrogator from Smartec that measures both SOFO (interferometric) and MuST (Fibre Bragg Grating) sensors across 4 software-configurable channels. It uses continuous swept-laser scanning with a NIST-traceable wavelength reference for long-term measurement accuracy.

Overview
In detail
How it works
The unit employs continuous swept-laser scanning technology and includes a NIST-traceable wavelength reference that provides continuous calibration to ensure accuracy over long-term operation. Its high dynamic range and output power allow high resolution to be attained even for long fibre leads and lossy connections.
Measurement
Each of the 4 channels can connect up to 5 SOFO sensors (external 1x5 splitter needed) or 7 to 25 MuST FBG sensors depending on sensor type. A built-in PC provides data logging and remote interfacing, storing results as a mySQL database or Excel-compatible files.
Deployment
The unit is built for robustness and portability, with careful component selection, compact assembly and a rugged carrying case optimised for field use, running for up to 3 hours on one battery pack (an extra battery is available on request). Control is via a 12-inch touchscreen GUI, Ethernet TCP/IP or USB.
