Silicon Audio Short Period Seismometer
The Silicon Audio short-period Omnitilt seismometer is an optical seismic sensor that stays tilt-insensitive through 360 degrees, suited to both permanent stations and rapid portable deployments.
- Passband
- 0.1-150 Hz
- Clip level
- ±40 mm/s
- Dynamic range
- 135 dB

Overview
In detail
How it works
The sensor uses a force-balance mass with an interferometric (optical) transducer to achieve low self-noise and a high clip level, with automatic mass centring and no mass lock required. This lets it remain fully tilt-insensitive and omnidirectional across a full 180° range.
Measurement
It offers a flat passband from 0.1 to 150 Hz, a clip level of ±40mm/s, and 135dB of dynamic range, with self-noise below the low-noise model from 0.1-1Hz and close to it above 1Hz.
Deployment
The sensor withstands shocks above 3000g and is available in vault or porthole packaging, in a small, lightweight and rugged 3-axis configuration suited to permanent observation or portable stations.
