Short Period Seismograph - Tremor
The Tremor short period seismograph uses internally mounted 2 Hz triaxial sensors with a wide dynamic range compared to traditional seismometers, able to record signals up to a clip level of about 254 mm/s — ideal for near-field blast and vibration monitoring applications. An all-in-one sensor and recorder package, it suits local earthquake monitoring — adding resolution by filling gaps between broadband stations, or deploying aftershock monitoring networks.
- Flat response
- 2 to 500 Hz (0.5 seconds to 500 Hz)
- Maximum clip level
- 254 mm/s
- Effective sensitivity (x16 amplifier setting)
- 1260 V/m/s with a clip level of about 16 mm/s

Overview
In detail
Sensitivity and clip level
For earthquake monitoring, simply adjust the input amplifier to increase sensitivity with a corresponding reduction in the clip level. To achieve equivalent sensitivity to most short period seismographs, an amplifier setting of x16 will produce an effective sensitivity of 1260 V/m/s with a clip level of about 16 mm/s.
Setup and connectivity
With a built-in LCD and keypad, setup takes no time and doesn't require a laptop, phone, tablet or Bluetooth connection. Simply add a 12 V battery and a mains or solar power source and you'll be recording earthquakes and other local vibrations in no time. It even has an extra channel for a microphone input for blast monitoring.
The GeckoLink (Raspberry Pi-based) accessory offers Ethernet and WiFi connectivity and SeedLink server connectivity, providing advanced users with the ability to install their own on-site data processing routines.
All-in-one Gecko seismograph
The Gecko Tremor uses velocity sensors with a flat frequency response from 0.5 seconds to 500 Hz. By adjusting the sensing amplitude range, users can tune the Tremor seismograph for surveys and local earthquake and aftershock monitoring (high sensitivity, reduced clip level) or for high-amplitude blast and urban vibration monitoring using the full 254 mm/s range. As part of the Gecko "Pro" range of seismographs and accelerographs, an optional internal battery provides hours of backup run time if the main power source becomes unavailable.
Recording and telemetry
The integrated Gecko recorder samples 3+1 channels synchronously at rates from 50 to 4000 samples per second, with data time-stamped every second from a GPS receiver at an accuracy of RMS 30 nanoseconds. Recording is continuous to a hot-swappable 32 GB SD card in 24-bit MiniSEED format, with ring-buffer capacity for more than a year of continuous three-channel data at 100 sps. Connectivity options include an Ethernet/WiFi adaptor, 4G cellular modem, or the GeckoLink co-processor, with TCP socket streaming push to eqServer or Streams and SeedLink pull via GeckoLink.
