PROFIL Digital Inclinometer Probe

How it works

The system includes a digital probe, a lightweight control cable, a Bluetooth reel, a cable gate, the Profil Reader app, and Profil Manager software. To start a survey, the operator taps an inclinometer borehole from the list in the Reader, or scans the QR code fixed to the casing. At each survey depth, the Reader prompts when a stable reading is ready; pulling the cable upward to the next depth is enough to trigger a recording, as the Reader senses motion and stores the reading automatically - no button press is needed, keeping hands free to work the cable and probe.

If a survey is interrupted, it can be resumed at the same depth with no loss of data. Once complete, checksums, profiles and changes can be plotted on the device to validate readings before leaving the site.

Data transfer

Completed surveys are sent to the office over the internet, either by email with automatic file attachments or via Dropbox for full synchronisation; a USB cable can be used for transfers where internet access is unavailable.

Cable and casing

Standard cable lengths are 30, 50, 75 and 100 m (100, 150, 200 and 300 ft), with other lengths available; every control cable is 3 m (10 ft) longer than its listed length. The four-conductor cable has a Kevlar strain member and polyurethane jacket. The cable gate fits 85 mm, 70 mm and 48 mm casing (3.34", 2.75" and 1.9").
