MuST FBG Multiplex SMARTprofile Deformation Sensor
The MuST FBG Multiplex SMARTprofile deformation sensor is a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) strain transducer encapsulated in a low-profile, surface-mountable patch. It bonds or clamps to metallic, composite or concrete structures for long-term structural deformation monitoring.

Overview
In detail
How it works
The sensing profile contains a fibre Bragg grating that converts strain variations into a change in reflected wavelength, read out by a SMARTEC MuST reading unit. The profile is bonded or clamped directly onto the monitored surface, with no drilling or embedding required.
Deployment
Up to five sensors can be chained in series on a single reading channel, each connected by a stainless-steel-reinforced cable with a 3 mm outer diameter. The composite sensing patch withstands hydrostatic pressure up to 30 MPa, corrosion, vibration and electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for subsea risers, offshore platforms and other harsh industrial or military structures as well as metallic, composite and concrete surfaces ashore.
