DiTemp ATTS

How it works

Two ~2 m sections of optical fiber, placed at the beginning and end of the real sensing cable, are heated or cooled in a controlled, repeatable way to reproduce the temperature signature of an anomaly such as a leak. Simulated events are typically generated every hour. The DiTemp ATTS records the timing of each simulation start and the alert it triggers in a dedicated test zone of a DiTemp Relay Module, controlled by the DiView software. If no alert arrives within a preset timeout, the ATTS itself raises an alert flagging that the monitoring system may be unavailable.

Because the simulated events occupy their own dedicated zone, real leakages are still detected during a test, and alerts from the test zone are not passed on to the plant controller or allowed to trigger any control action.

Reporting

The system records every timing result so a report can be generated periodically, summarizing the availability score and the average and maximum reaction times. This gives an ongoing, evidence-based evaluation of the installation's SIL (Safety Integrity Level proven by experience) rating.
