X-Band Ranger Weather Radar from EEC
EEC's Ranger is a compact, dual-polarization X-Band weather radar system built with a solid-state transmitter, suited to short-to-mid-range detection in permanent or portable installations from airports to offshore platforms.
- Range
- X-Band
- Output
- 100 W dual-polarity solid-state transmitter (Ranger-X1); higher radiated power on Ranger-X5
- Weight
- <430 lbs / 195 kg (Ranger-X1)

Overview
In detail
How it works
Operating on the shorter X-Band wavelength, the Ranger has dual-polarity built in, allowing it to detect even tiny particles such as high-altitude water droplets or light snow at short to mid-range distances. The Ranger-X1, developed with the University of Oklahoma's Advanced Radar Research Center, weighs less than 430 lbs/195 kg and features a 100-watt dual-polarity solid-state transmitter with very low power consumption; the Ranger-X5 offers more radiated power.
Deployment
The compact size allows installation in hard-to-reach permanent locations or fully portable deployment. EEC's turnkey design, manufacturing and installation process configures each system to the customer's specification, with a choice of control and display systems, Doppler processing through super-sensitive digital receivers, and permanent or mobile installation options.
