Salinity/temp sensor digital auto ranging
The EC1600 is a non-contact, toroidal electrical conductivity sensor that measures salinity and temperature over a wide range with high accuracy, without the corrosion or drift issues of contact-type sensors.
- Range

Overview
In detail
How it works
The EC1600 uses a non-contact toroidal sensing element, avoiding the reliability and accuracy drift that affects contact-type EC sensors. Internal auto-ranging is transparent to the user, delivering a smoothly varying output up to 100,000 µS/cm while maintaining high resolution and accuracy across the full range - down to within a few percent of reading at 200 µS/cm and under 1% of reading from 1,000-100,000 µS/cm.
Extensive calibration mapping the sensor's response across many temperatures and salinity levels underpins this accuracy.
Connectivity
SDI-12 output is standard, supporting cable runs up to 250 m and all standard SDI-12 commands; a user-settable 4-20mA output is also standard, improving resolution when only a limited EC range is needed. A 12-pin variant adds an RS232 output. The EC1600 is backward compatible with the earlier EC1500 - cabling, connectors and installation fittings carry over unchanged.
What's included
Supplied with sealed cable as standard, or an optional waterproof connector (5-pin or 12-pin) with a matching calibrated torque wrench to prevent over- or under-tightening and maintain ingress protection.
