SUV B UV Radiometer
The Kipp & Zonen SUV-B is a dedicated UVB radiometer with digital Modbus output, purpose-built to measure the UVB band of solar radiation responsible for sunburn and skin-cancer risk.
- Range
- Spectral range: 280 to 315 nm
- Output
- 0 to 9 W/m²
- Supply
- 5 to 30 V DC

Overview
In detail
How it works
The SUV series re-engineers the earlier SUV5 total-UV radiometer into dedicated UVA, UVB and UVE (UV Index) models, using the latest detector technology, digital signal processing and Modbus® output.
Measurement
UVB affects the top layer of skin and causes most sunburns; it is strongly linked to skin cancer and DNA damage, and can burn unprotected skin in as little as 15 minutes. Only UVA and UVB rays penetrate the earth's atmosphere, and the SUV-A and SUV-B let each be measured as a single wavelength band.
