Shear Vane Tester portable field kit - H-60
The H-60 is Roctest's hand-held field vane tester for a quick, in-situ estimate of the undrained shear strength of soft-to-stiff clays, used to check the stability of foundations, excavations and trenches.

Overview
In detail
How it works
The field vane shear test is the most common method for measuring the undrained shear strength of soft to stiff clays. The H-60 provides quick, repeatable strength readings via interchangeable vanes and 0.5m extension rods, with a peak value read from a scale-ring that is reset to zero before each test.
Deployment
Penetration to 1-2m below the surface is possible in stiffer clays, with measurements down to 3m documented in soft clay. The instrument is robust enough to be used as its own handle for pushing and retracting the vane, and the full kit — three vanes, a dummy vane, wrenches and case — is compact enough to carry as a field kit.
