EC-1550 Salinity Electrical Conductivity Sensor
The EC-1550 is a digital conductivity and temperature sensor built for low-power, low-maintenance monitoring in water and environmental applications. Its encapsulated toroid design avoids the fouling and corrosion issues of electrode-based conductivity cells.

How it works
The EC-1550 uses magnetic inductive coupling (a toroid) rather than a conventional electrode cell, so there is no direct contact between electrodes and the fluid. This removes the corrosion and fouling problems of electrode-based sensors and means the sensor can operate for years without recalibration. A delrin-tube body and embedded temperature sensor further protect against degradation.
Measurement
The full-scale range is specified and calibrated at the factory from a choice of standard ranges between 500 and 70,000 µS/cm (up to 75,000 µS/cm on request), and the temperature sensor can be factory-set to compensate the EC output. Response time is 2 seconds to full accuracy.
Connectivity
The sensor outputs uncompensated 4-20mA EC and temperature signals, or SDI-12 digital data, over cable runs of more than 500m. It draws under 5mA in sleep mode and around 70mA while taking a reading.
Deployment
The EC-1550 is supplied with a sealed cable of customer-specified length, or with an optional waterproof socket and matching plug, and is designed for installations where site access is limited.
