PLT-10 Point Load Tester
The PLT-10 is a point load tester used in mining and civil construction to determine the point load strength index of rock or concrete core samples. Its automatic pump means it requires no manual hand pumping, making it suited to high testing volumes.

Overview
In detail
How it works
Core samples are loaded between conical platens that conform to the ISRM (International Society for Rock Mechanics) suggested method for point load testing. The unit is built as a rigid, heavy-duty frame with a protective shield and a solid base to prevent toppling, and it can test large core samples up to 102 mm in diameter.
Results can be read directly from a digital manometer gauge, logged to a computer via an optional serial link, or recorded with an optional integrated data logger.
Pump options
The standard PLT-10 uses a pneumatically driven hydraulic pump. Automatic alternatives are available as the PLT-10E (electric hydraulic pump) and the PLT-10B (battery-operated hydraulic pump); a manual version, the PLT-10M, is also available with a high-pressure manual pump.
Optional accessories
Brazil/Brazilian test platens are available for indirect tensile strength testing in accordance with the ISRM standard, and include a self-centring spherical top and bottom seat. Upper and lower flat platens are also available for unconfined compression load testing.
