In detail
How it works
The station ships pre-configured to the customer's specification, so it works without a laptop or antenna alignment. All-metal construction (no plastic components) and a sealed IP67 data logger with military-grade, lightning-protected connectors let it withstand rugged fireline conditions and wind gusts up to 100 mph.
Deployment
Fully interchangeable with fixed RAWS sensors and telemetry, the Quick Deploy can be accessorised with a portable 10 m mast kit, carried in a wheeled hard case, for simultaneous ground and 10 m wind measurements, guy-roped to the terrain for stability. Multiple units can be placed along a fireline and rapidly relocated as conditions change.
Measurement
Standard sensors cover temperature/RH, tipping-bucket rainfall, wind speed and direction, and solar radiation.
Connectivity
Telemetry options include GOES satellite (North America), Iridium satellite (broader/international coverage) and an optional cellular modem. ESS Earth Sciences distributes the FTS (an AEM brand) fire-weather monitoring range in Australia.
