How it works
HydraProbe uses Coaxial Impedance Dielectric Reflectometry to provide consistent long-term accuracy of moisture, bulk EC and temperature in any soil type, with low inter-sensor variability so individual sensors read consistently without calibration. The method has been peer-reviewed in journals including the Vadose Zone Journal, American Geophysical Union publications, and the Journal of the Soil Science Society of America, and has been relied on by the USDA, NOAA, farmers, irrigation companies and universities for over 20 years.
Connectivity
The sensor outputs digital readings over SDI-12, RS-485 or Modbus to a datalogger or handheld unit. A field-portable version (HydraProbe Field Portable) lets an Apple or Android device connect wirelessly over an ad-hoc WiFi link for spot readings that don't require a permanent monitoring system: insert the probe, tap Sample in the HydroMon or POGO Turf Pro app, and GPS location, date, time and measurement data are recorded and can be exported as CSV.
