GW50 Groundwater Nitrate Sensor
The GW50 is a nitrate sensor designed for installation in 50 mm wells, which can often be installed by low-cost direct-push technologies, reducing the overall installation cost.
- Range
- 0 to 60 mg/L (without measurement cell alteration)
- Supply
- 11.5 to 15.5 V
- Measurement technology (light source)
- Xenon flash

Overview
In detail
Cost and power
At as little as one-third the cost of traditional technologies — around 30% of the cost of a full spectrometer — the GW50 enables the deployment of more sensors and avoids the cost-prohibitive nature of full spectrometers, so multiple installations fit within the same budget.
Power consumption is low, making remote solar-powered installation possible.
How it works
The sensor uses optical sensor technology to extend the service interval and reduce calibration drift. This makes the HydroMetrics optical sensor more suitable for long-term unattended deployment, and it is capable of delivering real-time nitrate data.
Maintenance
Periodic cleaning is required rather than calibration, reducing ongoing maintenance.
