G-200 Fall Cone Apparatus - Fast, Simple and Accurate Measurements
The G-200 Fall Cone Apparatus is a laboratory instrument for rapidly determining the undrained shear strength and sensitivity of undisturbed and remoulded clays, using a calibrated cone that penetrates the sample under its own weight.
- Range
- 0.01 to 200 kPa undrained shear strength (0.001-20 t/m²)
- Cone options
- 4 cones: 10g/60°, 60g/60°, 100g/30°, 400g/30°
- Penetration
- 4-20 mm depending on cone used

Overview
In detail
How it works
A calibrated cone, suspended by a permanent magnet, is released to fall freely into a prepared clay sample. The depth the cone penetrates over a fixed time relates directly to the sample's undrained shear strength, giving a fast, repeatable alternative to more elaborate strength tests.
What's included
The apparatus is supplied as a complete portable kit with four interchangeable cones of different weights and apex angles, covering a wide range of shear strengths, housed in a robust transport case suited to field use.
