FOD Displacement Sensor
The FOD is an absolute-position fibre optic linear displacement transducer used for long-term structural deformation monitoring or surface mounting across joints and cracks. Its fibre optic design gives it complete immunity to EMI, RFI and lightning, with no risk of current leakage or ignition.

Overview
In detail
How it works
The FOD is the fibre optic equivalent of a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT), providing highly precise absolute position and displacement readings. Because it is completely immune to EMI and RFI and carries no risk of current leakage or ignition, it can be located up to 5 km away from its signal conditioner.
Applications
The FOD is ideal for long-term structural deformation monitoring or for surface mounting across joints and cracks.
