d-Micro Geotechnical Crackmeter
The d-Micro is a Yieldpoint eddy-current crackmeter that outputs displacement in microns and temperature in degrees Celsius directly, avoiding the need for external analog-to-digital conversion, for monitoring cracks in structures such as buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels and mine workings.
- Range
- 10 mm; temperature -40 to 125 °C
- Output
- RS485 (9600,8,N,1) ASCII-encoded: instrument ID, sensor type, temperature and displacement data
- Core technology
- Eddy current transducer with digital temperature sensor

Overview
In detail
How it works
The d-Micro uses an eddy current transducer with a digital temperature sensor, outputting an RS485 (9600,8,N,1) ASCII-encoded signal comprising a unique instrument ID, sensor type, temperature and displacement data. Readings can also be taken over USB from a laptop or tablet using SensorViewer, logged long-term with low-power dLoggers, or networked in minutes with other YieldPoint instruments via the IoT Gateway or d-Mesh.
Installation
The d-Micro can be easily installed and removed from all types of structures using corrosion-proof nylon connectors.
Applications
Used for monitoring individual or interface cracks in structures, cracks in underground mine lunch rooms and garages, parking garages, dams under rehabilitation, residential structures subject to blast or fracking vibration, bridge-deck behaviour, and pillars and posts.
