Overview
In detail
How it works
The connection box contains mating adapters that join the fibre-optic connectors on sensor cables to the main multi-fiber cable, allowing sensors to be connected to a reading unit without disturbing the trunk cable. Larger boxes can also house SOFO splitters and MuST couplers, and excess sensor cable can be coiled inside the box.
Configurations
Available in four capacities: a small single-sensor version, and 10, 24 and 36-channel versions. The 10-channel box measures 25 x 18 x 9 cm and weighs about 4 kg; the 24-channel box is 40 x 40 x 20 cm and about 8 kg; the 36-channel box is 60 x 40 x 20 cm and about 11.5 kg.
Construction
Housed in fibreglass-reinforced unsaturated polyester rated IP66 for harsh outdoor environments. The 24 and 36-channel models accept an optional security lock, and boxes can be further protected by grout embedding or foam filling.
