Digital piezometers - d-Piezo
YieldPoint's d-Piezo is a digital piezometer that integrates a MEMS pressure transducer with a micro-controller to measure water pressure and depth, outputting readings directly in kPa and degrees Celsius over an RS485 digital signal. Each instrument carries a unique ID and can be run over long cable distances without amplification.
- Range
- 0-1000 kPa (unvented)
- Output
- RS485, transmitted to a data logger up to 500 m over 2 x twisted pair
- Resolution
- 0.01 kPa; approx. 1 mm of water over 100 m range

Overview
In detail
Measurement
The d-Piezo measures pressure from 0 to 1000 kPa (unvented) with 0.01 kPa resolution, equivalent to roughly 1 mm of water over a 100 m range. Temperature is measured from -35°C to +85°C with 0.1°C resolution.
Connectivity
The output signal is transmitted as an RS485 digital signal at 9600 bits/s (9600,9,n,1), ASCII encoded, to a data logger up to 500 m away over two twisted pairs. RS485 signals tolerate wet conditions and can be transmitted up to 1000 m without amplification; each instrument carries a unique ID so arrays of d-Piezos can be daisy-chained and remotely monitored.
