ANCLO Anchor Load Cell: For Tensile or Compressive Loads
The ANCLO Anchor Load Cell is a steel-housed strain-gauge load cell that measures tensile or compressive loads on anchors and tiebacks, for ranges from 100 kN to 5000 kN.
- Range
- 100, 200, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000 or 5000 kN
- Accuracy
- ±0.5% F.S.
- Overload
- 1.5x F.S.

Overview
In detail
How it works
The load-sensing element is a spool of high-strength heat-treated steel or aluminium that withstands rough handling and loading. Electrical resistance strain gauges are bonded to the periphery of the spool in a full-bridge configuration that compensates for unevenly distributed loads, using high-resistance gauges to minimise cable effects. The load cells are temperature-compensated for normal operating conditions.
A steel housing with O-ring seals covers the spool, protecting the strain gauges from mechanical damage and water infiltration. Cable is wired directly to the cell, or connected via a detachable multi-pin connector; on larger cells the cable exit runs parallel to the housing surface for better clearance.
Installation
The surface the load cell bears against should be smooth and perpendicular to the axis of the anchor or tieback; a seating pad of mortar or concrete may be required. A load-bearing plate of suitable thickness between the base of the cell and the bearing surface is recommended. The load-bearing plate, load cell, load distribution plate and anchor head assembly thread onto the anchor in sequence.
